RÉSUMÉ La traduction demeure une activité indispensable à la survie de l’espèce humaine. C’est un moyen permanent de briser l’écart linguistique existant parmi les communautés linguistiques du monde. Le moyen le plus efficace d’échange culturel et le partage des expériences historiques entre les pays du monde est la traduction littéraire. Certes, la traduction littéraire s’avère difficile au point que certains traductologues doutent sa possibilité. C’est dans cette optique que nous avons porté notre réflexion sur les difficultés de la traduction littéraire surtout des œuvres africaines dans ce travail. Nous proposons quelques démarches pour résoudre ces difficultés. Entre autres, nous proposons l’application de la théorie du sens, de l’approche Ethnologique et philologique dans la traduction littéraire.

ABSTRACT Translation remains an essential activity for the survival of the human species. It is a permanent way to break the linguistic gap existing among the world's linguistic communities. The most effective means of cultural exchange and sharing of historical experiences between countries of the world is literary translation. Certainly, literary translation proves difficult to the point that some translation specialists doubt its possibility. It is with this in mind that we reflected on the difficulties of literary translation, especially of African works, in this work. We propose some steps to resolve these difficulties. Among other things, we propose the application of the theory of meaning, the Ethnological and philological approach in literary translation.
