State secretary urges ethnic Hungarians to use mother tongue “without fear”

Politics.hu, June 11, 2012

All Hungarians living outside the country should have a chance to learn their mother tongue and use it without fear, a government official responsible for the nation policy told a conference on Friday.

Deputy state secretary Zsuzsanna Repas said the Hungarian government sought to achieve this state of affairs in cooperation with Hungarian communities abroad.

Hungarian minorities should be “somehow connected to scenes where Hungarian is spoken as a mother tongue”, she told a conference about language policy and language rights organised by the Research Institute for Hungarian Communities Abroad. This is a priority of Hungary’s nation policy, she added. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
