The Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia will host a
seminar on 17 February about the situation in the Slovak-Hungarian
border region, where the parallel presence of the two languages is an
everyday reality for many businesses. The discussion will be focused on
examples of Hungarian-Slovak partnership where languages have played a
key role and how bilingualism and multilingualism have contributed to
business success.
Among the panelists are Ms Darina de Jaegher from the language
education policy section of the Slovakian National Institute for
Education, Dr Robert Kováč, Director of the Section for Employment
services at the Central Office for Social Affairs, Labour and Family in
Slovakia, Mr Dávid Maász from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry for
the Hungarian Györ-Moson-Sopron district and Dr Gábor Prószéky,
Director of Morphologic language technology and member of the EC
Business Forum for Multilingualism.
The event has been organized jointly by the Representations of the European Commission in Hungary and Slovakia, the field offices for multilingualism in Bratislava and Budapest and representatives for the Enterprise Europe Network.
