Languages and Liter.: Multilingualism, Plurilingualism and Plurilingual Educ.

The studies leading to the acquisition of a "Master of Arts in Languages and Literature: Multilingualism, Plurilingualism and Plurilingual Education" consist of the accomplishment of either 90 or 120 ECTS credits, according to the student's choice, including the final thesis work and its defense. This program allows for the acquisition of in-depth knowledge concerning both institutional and personal multilingualism. The principal subject of this program is multilingual competence and its acquisition in both institutional and non-institutional environments in its linguistic complexity. The functioning and construction of multilingual competences, seen as an identifying principal in Switzerland as much as in Europe, will be studied in a cross-disciplinary manner. The program will cover theoretical and empirical aspects of multilingualism. The students will discover and use diverse research methods and learn to do field research on the functioning and construction of multilingual repertories as well as on the current mechanisms in use at the heart of multilingual institutions. They will be able to conceive of and analyze concepts and offer official recommendations concerning multilingual apprenticeship.
